After growing up and living in South Carolina most of my early life, I felt the need to see some of the rest of the world. So when I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in forest resources management, I moved west. I moved to Park City, Utah, Where I lived for five years, skiing and working in the tourism industry. While there I met my wife, Nancy, also a Realtor with the North Idaho Team. When we left Park City we spent a year in Sitka Alaska, where I was working for the US Forest Service as a Forester in the Tsongas National Forest. This was an exciting time, but we were longing for a place to settle down and start a family. We traveled all over the country looking for a place that had skiing that we loved, and also water as both Nancy and I grew up around the coast on the Atlantic Ocean. We had heard about Sandpoint from a friend in Park City who had been here in the summer to play golf. The information that we were getting though research made us want to check it out. We decided one day that we were going to come up and spend the winter to see what it was like. We packed up our car one day and drove up from Park City. The drive from Coeur d ‘alene to Sandpoint was dreary. It was raining like mad. When we hit the long bridge coming over the Pend Orielle River the sun came out and we were stunned with the beauty. That was all it took. We were hooked. The community took us in immediately. On the third or fourth night in town we were invited over for a pot luck dinner at someone’s home. We are still close friends with the people that we were with that night. The beauty of the area brings people to Sandpoint, but it is the community that makes people want to make it home. We bought our first home in Sandpoint in 1995. It was a log home in the Selle Valley just north of town which we later sold after totally remodeling and completing. From that point on we got involved with real estate investing. Our business partner and North Idaho Team member, Molly McLaughlin was our realtor at the time. Over the years real estate has been a great investment for us. I love helping people get into real estate investing and it is a great feeling to help someone find their dream home.
